Cox Business Supports National Cable Contest for Women Business Owners
Contest, Co-Sponsored by CTAM and Ladies Who Launch,
to Award Business-Boosting Prizes to Winners

ATLANTA Cox Business announced today that customers in the company’s Orange County, Calif. and Rhode Island cable markets will be eligible for a national contest for women business owners. The Digital Growth Contest winners will receive free Cox Business services for one year and other prizes designed to help boost additional business growth for the winners.

The contest begins today – one week before National Business Women’s Week – and continues through Thursday, Nov. 13. Winners will be announced in December. “Cox Business has a strong tradition of local philanthropy and positive relationships with women- and minority-owned businesses,” said Kristine Faulkner, vice president of product development and management for Cox Business. “Through the Digital Growth Contest, Cox Business is providing a communications technology grant that will help propel women business leaders to a higher level of operation.”

Managed by Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM), the national contest will run simultaneously in 11 cable systems nationwide, across multiple cable operators. The Digital Growth Contest is an important component of CTAM’s broader initiative, Cable Means Business, which is designed to raise awareness of the cable industry’s communications solutions for businesses. The Digital Growth Contest is co-sponsored by Ladies Who Launch, a multiplatform lifestyle company that supports female entrepreneurs.

One Cox Business winner will be selected in both Orange County and Rhode Island markets by a panel of judges, and each will be awarded a prize package that includes a free year of business telecommunications services. Other prizes are provided by Ladies Who Launch, and include a virtual business roundtable discussion, facilitated by Ladies Who Launch founder Victoria Colligan; and a prominent feature on the winning companies at www.ladieswholaunch.com. The criteria for winning are based on the entrants’ essays about their business plans and how digital technologies could help their businesses grow.

Complete eligibility and rules, entry guidelines, entry forms and other information are available by visiting www.digitalgrowthcontest.com. To be eligible, Cox Business customers must be owned or co-owned by a woman, and be located in Cox’s service area in Orange County or Rhode Island.

Cox Business provides a full portfolio of voice, data and video services to nearly 250,000 business customers in Cox markets across the U.S., including small businesses, multi-location enterprises, regional health care providers and federal, state and local government organizations. Cox Business is the fourth largest Ethernet service providers in the U.S., according to Vertical Systems Group, and the only multiple system cable operator ranked in the top tier. Cox Business also leads all providers of small and midsize business data solutions in customer satisfaction, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2008 Major Provider Business Telecommunications StudySM. Cox is currently the seventh largest voice service provider in the U.S., and provides nearly 600,000 phone lines to business customers.
