About Cox PIN

Cox is committed to protecting your privacy. Recently, the Federal Communications Commission issued new rules to telephone companies on the handling of telephone calling records and other customer sensitive information. In accordance with this order, Cox’s procedure will further protect your privacy. Recently, the use of ”pretexting” has increased. Pretexting is the act of posing as a customer or other authorized person, for the purpose of obtaining telephone records or other sensitive account information.

To help protect your telephone calling records and other vital information, Cox has created a four-digit Private Identification Number (PIN) exclusively for your use. This PIN will be requested during any of the following transactions:

  • Telephone calling records
  • Changes to billing address
  • Changes to authorized account users

If you already use a Cox PIN for other Cox services, you will continue to use the same PIN if it meets Cox’s security guidelines. If your existing PIN does not meet these guidelines, you will be assigned a new, random PIN to access your telephone calling records and other account services. Anytime your PIN or other customer sensitive information is changed, Cox will notify you.

The PIN can be found on your current billing statement and will
be required for use beginning December 8, 2007.
